Welcome to Yellow class.
The children of Yellow class are in Year 2,3 and 4.
Our Summer Term Theme is 'Emperors and Empires'. Please see our medium term above which shows in detail what our new theme entails.
Homework: In Yellow class, children are expected to at least 4 times a week, practise their weekly spellings and to complete either a maths or English homework set online on Sumdog every Tuesday and is expected to be completed by the following Tuesday.
Reading: Reading is a lifelong skill that we try to develop as your child continues their journey through our school. We are keen to develop a love of books and escapism as early as possible, which is why we have introduced ‘Reading Karate’ this year. This is a reward based system for reading at home, which results in the children moving up through coloured ‘belts’ (wristbands) depending on how many ‘reads’ they have completed. We would greatly appreciate your support with this new initiative, not only by listening to your child read but by perhaps sharing some of your favourite books from your childhood with them too.
Maths: Breage C of E school has invested in ‘Timestables Rockstars’, an online resource for learners to practise their multiplication skills. This will enable children to become more fluent in their multiplication tables. Children also have Sumdog login details which they can practise maths skills.
PE days will usually take place on Monday (PAFC). We ask that on this day, children come in wearing their PE kits following the school’s uniform policy.
Our class stories for this term are:
I was there Boudica’s Army by Hilary McKay
Roman Diary, The journal of Iliona. A young slave by Richard Platt.
